Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca that can be undertaken at any time of the year, unlike the Hajj which has specific dates. It is a highly recommended act of worship in Islam but is not obligatory like Hajj. The rituals of Umrah include:
Ihram: Pilgrims enter a state of spiritual purity and wear specific clothing. Men wear two white seamless cloths, and women wear simple, modest clothing.
Tawaf: Pilgrims circumambulate the Kaaba seven times in a counter-clockwise direction.
Sa'i: Pilgrims walk seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah.
Halq or Taqsir: Men either shave their heads (Halq) or cut a portion of their hair (Taqsir), while women cut a small portion of their hair.
Umrah can be performed in a few hours, making it shorter than Hajj. Many Muslims choose to perform Umrah multiple times in their lives, seeking spiritual benefits and closeness to Allah.
